New Release: ALTITUDE

Hey all!

You probably know me (if you do know me) for being the dude that made Shoppy Mart: Steam Edition!

ALTITUDE is my newest game, it's a small game made for the AGBIC 2020 gamejam (hosted here on itch!), where the premise is that you make a REAL game by choosing a fake game cover, as in a cover for a game that does not exist.  I made Island Time for it back in 2016, and it inspired SOLACE (my current project), back in 2018.  This year, its 2020 and anything is possible, good or bad, and Altitude by Ana & Lorenzo really stood out to me, and after looking at the cartridge and reading the description I knew that I wanted to make a game for it. However, there are a ton of them that are really great, you can actually browse the other 'fake' game covers here: MY FAMICASE EXHIBITION

The main thought I had when I saw this how to make an interesting breathing mechanic as a core part of the game. In ALTITUDE you navigate a deadly, fast-moving maze while having to control your breathing the entire time. The difficulty comes from juggling the breathing while avoiding obstacles and I think the key to completing it quickly is 'getting in the zone' or 'finding the groove' and once you've hit that deeper level of focus you really get into a rhythm.

ALTITUDE is my first 3D game, and although it's pretty primitive 3D, its still 3D, and with that came a lot of really fun new challenges for me personally. It was done in GM:S 1, which is what I have made most of my games in up until now, and it was an extremely fun time for me to make.

There is no real 'leaderboard' in any way built into the game, but I did put a little note at the bottom of the screen if you beat my best time or not, and I think the real fun, at least for me, is trying to see how quickly I can beat my own time in a game like this, with that said...

Here's my best time:

This is me officially challenging you to try and beat it!!!

Have fun! -Brady
